Grandma's Canna's love our heat and humidity....about the only thing that does!
My post for Thursday, 6-25-09

I need to find a laundromat so I can wash & dry these sleeping bags. One of the famlies a few houses down had to move back to Japan (the dad works at Honda) and they had a bunch of stuff out at the curb on Wednesday. I got these two nearly new (they only lived here for about 3 years) Coleman sleeping bags, a graphite fishing pole with a spinning reel, a fold up camp stool with a cooler under the seat, and a leather baseball mit (kids size) some baseballs and some birdies for our badmitton set.

My Post For Tuesday, 6-23-09

This is pretty much how we have spent the past few days....playing at the water park just down the road. Last night Paige's b.f.f. Brittany spent the night and tonight we had Megan's b.f.f. Cameron spend the night. I took all 4 of them to the water park today for a splashing good time. Luckily we all have season passes so we can stay and play as long or as short as we like. Today we got there when they opened at 10:30 a.m. and we left at 2:30.
No water park today...I need a break...and our laundry needs to be done, and the floors need to be cleaned...so we are taking a day off from playing to get things done.

We ate the last of my birthday cake tonight. Mike surprised me last week and brought home a yummy "Strawberry Delight" cake. I love mine ice cold with a glass of milk.
My post for Sunday, June 21, 2009

Hope your Father's Day was as good as Mike's. We didn't catch "Walter" but we sure had fun trying!

Wishing all the Dad's in our families all the best today and always.

Bailey and Rebel all tuckered out from another day of doggy wrestling. Bailey's family comes home Sunday so I thought I better get a picture of them tucked in their beds (on the end of our bed).

We woke up to thunder off in the distance this morning so I got up and took the dogs out before it got too bad. It started raining and we had some big thunder and lightning from about 7:15 a.m. until about 8:45 a.m. Megan went out to check the rain gauge and we had three and a half inches of rain. Our yard is like a swamp, guess we won't need to water the garden for a while. We are supposed to get some more storms later today. It's sunny, hot and humid now at 4p.m. not a good combo when you have thunderstorms coming your way.
p.s. this is what Megan's hair looks like in the morning before it's combed, wish my hair looked that good.

TWO FOR TUESDAY!

Above Megan playing with Jake upstairs with the "flip flier"...Jake loves this toy and the girls were good at fetching his fliers for him.
Below Paige holding Evan and looking very grown up all of a sudden!

Today we had our first babysitting gig with the boys next door. Paige and Megan were a huge help with Jake (age 2 1/2). I was in charge of Evan the little guy (2 months), I was also in charge of Jake's poopy diaper and making everyone lunch. They took Jake out back to the swing set and played in the sandbox with him, they also tried to play hide and seek with him. Jake does'nt quite get the concept of hide and seek, he likes to announce where he plans to hide. Luckily my kids are good sports and pretend not to hear him. They did such a good job helping with Jake that I paid them each five dollars from the money that was paid to me...and they were thrilled!

We had a cookout on Flag Day to celebrate Paige and Megan's birthdays with Aunt Terry, Uncle Steve, Brittney and Aaron (Brandon was a no show...they turn 21 and you never see them at family cook outs again). The weather was perfect and the food was yummy. We grilled burgers, brats & hot dogs. We also had watermelon baked beans, tater tots, coleslaw ,corn on the cob and taco salad. Then for dessert we had lime delight and the kids made their own ice cream sundaes.

Here is Aunt Terry showing Megan how to use the REAL tiny little digital camera that came with the scrapbook kit that they gave her (it was a huge hit). I wish I would have taken more photos. I was a little busy getting the food together. We got home from getting the food at 1:15 and they got to our house at 2. It was a little rushed but we got it together.
It was fun just hanging out on the patio together. They brought their dogs Hershey and Ginger (Paige took a bunch of photos of them).

My Post for Saturday, 6-13-09

Megan our little fishing girl.

Paige spent the night at her friends last night so we got up early and headed for Prarie Oaks to do some fishing. We found a nice little spot that had some shade and we caught 3 keepers. We also saw this big ol fish swim past our hooks. We couldn't entice him but at least we know there's some big fish in the pond.
After fishing we headed back home to have lunch and take the dogs out. Then we went to the water park and met Paige and her friends there. Her friends were leaving so we convinced her to stay with us. We had fun going in the wave pool, on the lazy river and the raft slides. After a while we ran into her b.f.f. Brittany and her mom and brother. The girls had a fun time hanging out together. Brittany's mom invited Paige to spend the night next Friday night so Paige will have another busy weekend.

My Post for Friday 6-12-09

IT'S BOGGLE TIME!

NO we did not lose our minds and get another dog! We are dog sitting for our neighbors while they vacation in the Florida Keys. Bailey the Boggle (she's part Beagel part Boston Terrier) is a month younger than Rebel. They are great friends ....they both love to chase each other around and they are just like 3 year old kids they always want the same toy. Although we have a half a dozen tennis balls they will chase each other around trying to get hold of the one that is in the others mouth. By the time we go to bed at night they are worn out.

My post for Thursday, 6-11-09

We woke up to some much needed rain this morning. After the kids got dressed they ran out back to check the rain guage...as you can see from the close up of Megan's hand we got one inch and we didn't have to water the garden today.

Guess what? Our HUGE 6 person tent is still up in our bonus room (it's been up since Paige's b.day party on May 16th) .......

and the kids have slept there every night since getting out of school on June 2nd. I like to sneak in and take pictures of them sleeping. They always go to sleep in the same spots but in the mornings they are turned around and sometimes they are snuggled up next to each other. When they go back to sleeping in their own twin size beds they will probably fall out of bed or conk their heads on the walls next to them. but for now they are enjoying sleeping in the quilt littered HUGE tent.

Happy Birthday to my favorite brother in law Steve out in California. Hope you are having a great day and not working too hard! I miss you and your dry sense of humor! Thanks for always telling it how it is and making me crack up in the process. Love and hugs from Ohio, B.

Summer Reading

She went to her first "book club" meeting at the middle school last Wednesday. They made a schedule of times and places to meet and they picked out 5 books to read. The first book they are reading is a mystry "The Face On The Milk Carton" by Caroline B. Cooney. It must be really good because it seems like she is reading it all the time.

My post for Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Megan's last day of 2nd grade...and not a moment too soon for her poor book bag ( you can't tell from the photo but it has a huge tear in the back and the fabric is all frayed). I don't know what happened to it but it happened fast, last week it was grungy but o.k. this week it is thrashed!

Paige's last day of 5th grade...and her last day in elementary school.
My post for Monday, June 1 ,2009

The lily's are blooming early this year. I guess all the warm weather we have had gave them a head start, in years past they have not bloomed until mid to late June. I took these shots this morning after a thunderstorm soaked them.

My post for Sunday, May 31,2009

We spent the last day of May fishing...Mike caught three keepers. I caught a bunch of throw backs and Paige and Megan each caught a few throw backs too. Oh and Mike has two different stories of the BIG one that got away. One was a giant catfish, we know it was BIG because we all saw it jump out of the lake twice. He also had a nice size Crappie that didn't make it to shore.

Megan was at a sleepover Saturday night. Aparently the birthday girl got some tatoos for her birthday because Megan came home sporting at least 9 or 10. Luckily they all washed-scrubbed off in the shower last night.
