My post for Sunday, 4-26-09

We went to Anderson's and picked out our garden plants. Looks like we are going to grow a "Salsa Garden". We have onions, peppers, tomato's and jalapeno's. We are also going to try carrots, broccoli, and radish.

Friday's Sky posted on a hot windy Saturday afternoon.

Megan's First Fish!

When Mike got home from work tonight he convinced us to pack up and go fishing. We were not too keen on the idea at first...I was about to start dinner, Megan wanted to go to Sydney's house and Paige was just tired from taking the O.A.T. testing at school all week. But we grabbed our water bottles, put on our sneakers and loaded up.
We went to another park around the corner from where we went last week. They have a "kids only" pond and Mike thought that would be a good place for Megan to catch her first fish.

After catching and releasing for about 20 minutes or so they wanted to move on to the bigger pond to catch some keepers. We had a few nibbles but no luck tonight. I don't care I'm just happy that Megan and Paige got some bites in the kids pond.

There's nothing better than a surprise package that arrives in the mail, especially when you are a kid.
The other day I had mentioned that Paige had received a Chickadee Webkinz in her Easter basket and that she is doing a report on them in her S.O.A.R. (gifted) class. Well our sweet "P.O.T.D.F." (Picture Of The Day Friend) Lisa commented on the post and said that she would like to send Paige some of her chickadee photos. Well they arrived on Thursday and the girls were thrilled. Not only did Lisa send the cute liitle bird photos for Paige she sent Megan some pretty daisy's for her room too.


I asked Paige what she wants for her upcoming 11th birthday (in less than 3 weeks) and she said that she wants to paint her bedroom walls blue and green. She has outgrown the "pepto" pink that she picked out when she was five. When she saw the beautiful pictures she said "we can get frames for these and hang them on my new walls". I think they will be perfect!

Yesterday afternoon the girls and I went up to the high school to admire all of the fantastic student art. There are some very talented and creative students in this district and they are taught by wonderful teachers that share their passion and enthusiasm for art with the kids. They not only display the older kids work but also have some art from the middle schools and elementary schools too. This is the second year that Paige has had a piece of her art work displayed.

While Mike went fishing with his brother I took the girls to the High School to see all the incredible art at their annual art show. After that we went to the club for a swim in the indoor pool.

It's not as big as "Grandma's fish" but it was fun!

I bought it last Spring, I even offered to get each of the girls one but they picked something else. I get so many compliments whenever I wear this candy colored bracelet. I love it when someone ask "where did you get that cute bracelet" and I smile and reply "the dollar spot".

Two for Tuesday!

When I got to work on Saturday morning I was upstairs hanging my coat up (it was 37 degrees at 7:30 when I left for work). Barb told me to keep my coat on because I was going out to the cashier booth in the nursery. Luckily it is enclosed and after I plugged in the heater and got some hot chocolate from Matt at "Sacred Grounds" life was good. It was the first day that we had anyone in the nursery booth and by 10 a.m. it was sunny and warming up. All the customers felt sorry for me. But to tell the truth I would much rather ring up mulch, dirt, trees and flowers outside in the booth than all the grocery orders (on the day before Easter) inside. All the new cashiers always ask "when do I get to cashier in the booth?", well stick around 14 years and you may be a shoe in!

It's cloudy and cool out this morning...we are to get some rain later today. I am changing the sheets on the beds, doing laundry and packing up the Easter decorations.

This silly pup just loves being outside in the fresh air. Yesterday while I was cleaning house he kept wanting to go outside. It was sunny but with a crisp breeze and barely fifty degrees. So I tossed his pillow and blankets out and there he sat all content.

This is the birthday card I made for Mike.

The kids took a little break from fishing on Sunday so I asked Paige to grab my camera and take some pictures. She took some of Mike and a few of me and then she took about 25 of Megan. I guess Megan was a little more fun than the rest of us. I will post more of the Megan shots later on my main blog...I just thought this one was kind of funny. Mike would have deleted it but not me...I like the way both her feet are off the ground and you can see her holding her MP3 player.....it's pure Megan.

Aunt Shann is not the only one with a bad case of "puppy love".

The Catch (& Release) of the Day!

We went fishing today, since we gave Mike a fishing license for his birthday. The only one to catch a fish (2 Bluegill actually) was Paige.

We started celebrating Mike's birthday on Saturday night (his birthday is April 5) we went out to dinner at Red Lobster then came home to open gifts and play (he got some games for the Wii).

The Tooth Fairy has been busy!

Megan came home missing another bottom tooth yesterday (yes it was a loose baby tooth). The school nurse gave her a little plastic pink treasure chest to put it in. That is one of the reasons Megan likes to pull her teeth at school. She lost the other one about 2 weeks ago...while she was on the school bus going to school.
P.S.
The reason her shirt is all wet around the collar is that she had been playing outside before dinner and when she came in she was hot so she put a cool washcloth on her neck.

She's back in the saddle again....

....and that explains the big grin!
