Paige's tree inspired by the art of Natasha Wescoat.
This was made with a black sharpie pen, watercolors, acrylics and modge podge. Her art teacher wrote "Incredible!" on the back and she got an M+. (M is for Meets).
My post for Thursday 5-08-08

Hey there's a duck on the roof and it looks like a weather vane!
I took the dogs out to the bus stop this morning. It was kind of cool and overcast. Paige noticed this duck sitting on the peak of Brian and Laura's house. Paige said "Mom you should get the camera and make that your picture of the day." So here it is the duck on the roof. After I snapped a few pictures it flew off across the street. We call it "BIG Hill"! It is big as far as Ohio standards go. But if you grew up in California and road your bike in the bay area or up in the foothills of the Sierra's then you may not consider our "BIG hill" so big. But it's our biggest hill in the development so there !The day after Megan learned to ride her bike without the training wheels Mike took the kids on a bike ride while I was at work. Paige and Megan were excited to tell me about the BIG hill they found with their dad and Harry.
So when Harry's brother Ian came home from college this past weekend Harry wanted to show Ian "BIG hill too. But Harry was not sure he could find it again since they had gone one way and came back another. Paige told them she could show them so she asked for permission to go ride bikes with them. Megan wanted to go too so I went along so that Ian would not have to be responsible for Megan since she's new to this whole bike riding thing. I grabbed the camera and here are some shots.
I like the one above, Megan taking off down the hill and Harry and Paige hanging back.

Here is the hill from the other direction. From this direction I can peddle fast and almost coast up about 3/4ths of the other side.

Dog gone it, I don't like getting my teef worked on!
Rowdy dog had a little surgery today. He had a cracked molar tooth that had to come out, they also cleaned his teeth and gave him a flouride treatment. He was a little rummy when we picked him up at 4:30. After we got him home he seemed to perk up when I gave him some soft dog food. He will get that for two weeks while his sutures dissolve and his mouth heals. Then it will be back to the dry stuff. That should be interesting trying to convince him to eat dry dog food after two weeks of "the good stuff".
Rowdy was feeling almost frisky after his meal and pills (3 in all for pain, swelling and infection). Paige was rubbing his tummy and I think it helped him feel better . Rebel seems to know that Rowdy is not 100% so he has been laying low.

Move over Barbie there's a new doll in town!

Megan went to Avery's birthday party yesterday afternoon. While she was there she made a new friend and her name is Lily. The party was at "Friends to B Made", it's part of the "Build A Bear" stores except the friends are dolls, and boy do they have lots of clothes and accessories. Lily just happens to be one of the new "Rock and Roll" dolls. I have to admit she looks pretty cute with her green hair and matching green eye shadow. I am sure it is a lot cuter on this doll than it would be on my daughter. The other "Rock and Roll" dolls have blue, lavender or pink hair all with matching eye shadow of course. I was a little surprised at Megan's pick. I would have guess she would go for the pink or purple haired girl. Megan told me that she named her Lily after a friend in dance class, she also mentioned that lily pads are green. I reminded her that lily's are also beautiful flowers.
Did I mention that Lily has matching green glitter polish on her toes?
While we are talking about Megan's doll friends I thought I would introduce you to the rest of the trio. This is Megan's first "Friends to B Made" doll. Her name is Peach and Megan made her on her 4th birthday. Peach is sporting red glitter polish on her toes.
Then there is also Daisy. Megan made her a few years ago at Brittany's birthday party. Daisy has pink polish on her toes.

She's a well rounded girl...she dances and mows lawns!NOT! She just dances and poses so her mom can take silly pictures.
After the girls ran over to show our neighbor Linda their costumes I persuaded Paige to pose with the lawn mower for one last shot. I think it's my favorite. You can check out the proper posed shots on my main blog.
My post for Saturday May 3,2008I didn't get a chance to take any new photos today because....
I worked all day.
I came home and made dinner.
After dinner I went on a bike ride to the "BIG HILL" with Paige and Megan.
After the bike ride I got the kids ready for bed and Megan and I did some reading while Paige was in her room reading with Rebel.
So those are my excuses and I will just post some leftover shots from Friday morning.
It works for me!

Aloha!
Paige's 4th grade class had 3 long days of testing for the O.A.T. (Ohio achievement test) so today they are having a beach party! Paige packed her tropical fish beach towel, a small beach ball, her sunglasses and her clown fish in her backpack this morning. As you can see she is all decked out for a beach party in her authentic Hawaiian dress that her Mimi got her from Hilo Hatties. Paige got this for her 8th b.day two years ago and except for being a little shorter it still fits fine. She also wore her shell necklace (also from Mimi), her sunglass pen (from Cheeseburger in Paradise), her dolphin bracelet that she made and a flower clip left over from Megan's hula themed 5 th birthday.I even relented and let her wear flip flops to school. That is something I have never allowed. I don't think flip flops are very safe on a blacktop and gravel playground, but today they were pretending to be at the beach and sneakers would have ruined the whole outfit. The kids brought snacks to share too. Paige brought donut holes and salt water taffy from Anderson's.

The girls went out to ride their bikes after school yesterday. Megan has it down she can even ride down the driveway and turn onto the sidewalk. That is pretty good because on Saturday she was having a difficult time with the curve on our corner.

Paige gets credit for this shot. It's my favorite, I like how it feels like she's gonna run you over and she is smiling about it!Can you tell Paige is saying "Look Mom one hand!". At least it's one hand and not "no hands!", I'm not ready for that yet!

"Draw Me A Star" by Eric CarleThis is Megan's version of the star, she made it in art class at school. It came home in her backpack yesterday. I love finding cool-colorful art in my kids backpacks!

Would someone please inform Jack Frost that it has been Spring (according to the calendar) for over a month now?!
I took these photos at 7 a.m. when I took the dogs out.The Phlox was frosty....
the Tulips were chilled but still in bloom.
There was a dusting of white on our rooftop all on the 2nd to last day of April o8.

"MY TOOTH IS LOOSE!"
This is what Megan was singing out as she came running into the house after playing across the street with all the neighbor kids. Looks like she's going to have a toothless grin when we go out to CA this summer.
(It's the top front left tooth)

"Megan is our observant child"
As we were walking into the dace studio where Paige and Megan take ballet and tap Megan notices this poster. It is an advertisement for the photography studio that takes the photos of the kids in their recital costumes.

So Megan is checking out this poster and she says " Hey doesn't that one girl look like Paige?". Well I glance over at it and see Paige in her "Sugar Plum Fairy" costume from last year and I say "Hey Paige do you think that looks like you?". Then Paige checks it out and she says "Yes Megan that is ME!".
The funny thing was that Paige and I walked right past it. I was concerned with getting Megan changed into her tights and leotard so she would get to class on time and Paige was chatting with a dance friend. Just when I think Megan doesn't pay attention (like when I am telling her to brush and floss her teeth but she only does one not the other!) she surprises me and that makes me smile. :)

Look! My Clematis is growing even as I type. The picture above was taken on Monday 4-21-08and I took this one below today. It's amazing what sunshine and a little rain can do! It should have blooms by June.
