Ol Rowdy dog is looking good, he will be 11 years young in just 3 months. He enjoyed some sunshine today.

Last year at this time we were down in Georgia for Spring break. These are some fish at the Georgia Aquarium that we visited while we were there. This year our Spring break has been spent at home and that is a good thing since Paige has had a fever off and on since Saturday afternoon. I think she is feeling better today, after coughing her head off all night. She must be feeling better because when I told her to go up and rest she argued with me.
When we were on the way home from Megan's dance class today she was quiet. Turns out when we got home she has a fever now too. After taking her temp and giving her some medicine she is up resting too.
At least the sun is shining and our grass is greening up and the tulips are blooming.

Meet Dirt.
The first toad spotting of the season was last night. I went outside to deliver some blueberry muffins to our neighbor's and there he was sitting on the front walk looking for bugs. I called Paige and Megan outside to visit with him. They love toads, they named him "Dirt" because he looks like dirt, so original!

The lawn care season has officially begun today.
(see photo below)
Mike is the reason we have such a nice lawn...he's the one that puts the weed and feed down and adjust the mower to the correct height...here he is putting the first fertilizer down.
Today has turned into a lovely day..75 degrees and sunny. We have the windows in the house open. We really seem to enjoy this a little more after a winter with single digets.

Ta-da!
Our youngest artist.
Megan made this in art class and got to bring it home today. I am always so excited to see their artwork after hearing about the process of their making it each week. This is a work based on a Picasso piece, kindergarten art has come a long way from my days of gluing macaroni on a cigar box.

We are going to pretend this is Thursday's post...because yesterday Mike worked from home...he just went to bed around 10 a.m. actually...worked all night. Needless to say I never even got close to the computer...except to put his lunch or dinner on the desk.
So here is my post....these rocks sit next to my front step, they are from my Grandma...yes my Grandma sent me rocks and I think that is so cool. She also painted the toenails on the foot rock and that makes me smile every time I see it. Hope they make you smile too!

Since I did not get to post yesterday (Mike was working from home all day and I didn't get a chance to get on the computer) we will call this Tuesday... March 20th.
Rebel had a rough day....got neutered and four baby teeth pulled. Here he is resting in his puppy cage. He is on pain medicine for the next 3 days so he will be fine soon. I am kinda glad that it seems to knock him out a little...that way he is not jumping around and messing with his sutures. He has his little beanie puppy with him, it has a removable bag of buckwheats in it's tummy that I can warm up in the microwave. He used to sleep with him when we brought him home at 6 weeks old. That seems to comfort him a little too...or at least it makes me feel better.
See all those little "ferret teeth"? This is Rebel's mouth yesterday morning before going to the vet.

I love this barn...not just because it has the Ohio bicentennial logo on it but because it is a classy looking barn. Whenever I drive to the mall I like to go the back way so I can pass by this barn. Yesterday I stopped and took this photo. The story behind the Ohio bicentennial logo...there is one barn painted with the logo in each county, they hired just one young man to do all the painting. They even published a book with a photo of each barn. I checked it out from the library once, it was fun to see all the different barns.

First dinner on the patio for 2007
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday it barely got to 50 degrees and today it shot up to 75. Guess that is March in Central Ohio for ya. The girls wanted to dine outside tonight so we ate our burgers out on the patio. Hope the sun was shining on all of you today too!

Rebel and Rowdy
I was cleaning the floors downstairs yesterday when I hear all this barking and growling so I go in to see what the problem is and this is what I find. Rebel making himself all cozy in Rowdy's chair...or at least Rowdy thinks it's his chair. By the time I got the camera they had stopped yapping at each other...Rebel was all worn out from a long walk and was being a good dog and Rowdy just sat there trying to ignore him.

Signs of Spring!
I know Spring will not be here for some time....March 21st on the calendar but that does not mean much here in Ohio....we are not advised to plant annauls until after Mother's day. By then we are usually done with frost. But here are my tulip bulbs poking their tips up...we will have flowers in another 4 weeks or so but for now this is the only green and sign of Spring to be found in our yard. We will post them again when they are in bloom....these ones are red & white.

Ouch!
The one day I wish the kids had a 2 hour delay because of the weather and they didn't. When I went out with the dogs yesterday morning and saw the snow coming down and the street all covered I was sure that the schools would be on 2 hour delay. But when I checked the web site that was not the case. I had to go to school with Megan since yesterday was her class field trip to Franklin Park Conservatory. On the way down our street I was stopping/sliding to the stop sign and another car was attempting to turn onto our street...they were slipping and sliding so bad they decided to go straight instead of turn. It all happened in slow motion....I was almost stopped and turning my wheel to avoid sliding into the side of her car when my front passenger side bumper hit her rear passenger side bumper. The kids were fine...but Paige was annoyed and worried about being late since they have state testing all this week. When I called the school Sally said not to worry they were still waiting for a bunch of school buses . So the kids were not even marked tardy. I can't believe that the salt trucks or plows had not been by our street. When we got out of our cars to exchange information we both nearly fell on our butts the road was that slippery. But at least it is fixable and no one got hurt.

Last night the Anderson's had an employee dinner for us it was just the employees...no family which was fine with me since it did not start until after 7 when the store closed. We were celebrating having sales over a million dollars for 2006...the first time ever. I sat with my friends Tesha, Betty and Peg and even Dan Anderson himself sat with us. He is a real nice guy, he is my favorite Anderson. The food was awesome....prime rib, grilled chicken, rolls, salad, veggies, baked potatoes it was perfect. They also had lots of desserts but I passed on them.
After dinner they had a floor show....my supervisor Jody wrote a song about working at Anderson's to the tune of the Village Peoples "Y.M.C.A." then she had some of the guys that we work with in the Village Ptople costumes on stage dancing. The best one was Gus, he was the Indian and he had made a loin cloth from a Anderson's brown bag...he had his pants on of course.
After the entertainment they had door prizes. But instead of just reading off the tickets we played "Let's Make a Deal". If they called your number you could choose the prize behind the curtain, in the box or you could take a prize that someone else already picked. When they called my number I picked the curtain and got a big ol bag of grass seed. There were some other goofy prizes to and some good ones mixed in. Then after they gave away all the prizes they told us if your prize has an orange sticker with a number on it you would get another prize to go with it. So all the folks that got a goofy prize then got something good like a c.d. player, mp 3 player, gift cards etc. I got an electric hedge trimmer...original price was $40.00 so I think I made out. I just noticed that the grass seed says "REBEL" on it...so that is funny...the way Rebel digs we may just need all that grass seed come Spring!
