AND AFTER!

Last night I took the girls so Miss. Melinda could help them get their summer started with cute haircuts. They have a day and a half of school left so their teachers and friends will get to see the new hairdo's on Monday. I love how cute they look and I love that they can comb and part their hair on their own. I won't have to be the "ponytail master" each morning. I didn't have her blow Paige's out since they were starving for dinner. Plus her hair looks better when it air dries, less frizz and more waves.
They both had birthday parties to go to today, so they were excited for their friends to see their new hair. Paige had a swim party and Megan went to a sleepover.

BEFORE!

My post for Thursday, 5-28-09

We have a new neighbor boy. He moved in/arrived on April 14, at 1:59 p.m. His name is Evan Andrew he is Jake's (our favorite 2 year old) little brother. Evan was 9lbs. 3 oz. and 21.5 "long at birth and he just keeps on growing!
I finally remembered to take my camera over today...along with some yummy pumpkin chocolate chip bread (for his mommy). While she was enjoying her snack I snuggled with Evan and took a few photos of him. He even took a cat nap on my shoulder, he was so relaxed he was drunk on his mama's milk. I am going to start watching him on Monday's starting in July when Jamie (his mom) goes back to work as a nurse. So me, Paige and Megan will be having some baby fun on Mondays this summer.

I gave Paige and Megan a ride to school today. Not because they missed the bus......

just so I could help Paige bring her display board that she made on Palominos. It is for the 5th graders "Expert Fair" that they are putting on for the 4th graders tomorrow. She wrote a paper, and put her information on the display board. She even made Palomino word search puzzles and informational bookmarks to hand out to the kids.
I sent her to school with extra glue dots just in case the little plastic Palominos come unglued!

God Bless
all of our men and woman in uniform.
We thank you and your families for your
service and sacrifices.

The BIG TENT is still up in the bonus room (from Paige's b.day party last weekend) so that is where they slept all weekend. Here they are Monday morning all bright eyed and busy tailed after two late nights of dancing. They slept in until almost 9 a.m. That's late for Megan!
My post for Sunday, 5-24-09

Sunday night after the show. Miss. Linda came with us and Lorena and Brittany met us there. Paige was so happy to see her best friend, Brittany after the show. We chatted for a few minutes and took some photos. Then it was back home to clean their faces, have a snack and get ready for bed.

My post for Saturday, May 23,200

This was dance recital weekend. Paige and Megan each had two dances in "The Castle On Blue Hill". It was performed downtown in the Riffe Center. They had dress rehearsal on Saturday from 6:15 p.m. to 9:25. Megan was done at 8:30 so she sat with me in the audience and watched the scene that Paige's tap dance was in.

Here they are in their ballet costumes ready to go in for rehearsals. They were in the same scene and Paige's class danced then Megan's was the next to go so that was fun to see them on stage together. Megan's group were waterfalls and Paige's were humming birds.

Have you ever seen a Columbine seed? They are tiny, about the size of a poppy seed. A dear friend, Nancy that I used to work with me gave these seeds to me when we lived at our previous home. I had them growing out back near the deck. Just before we sold the house the columbine went to seed so Paige and I collected some to take to our new house. Well we moved and the envelope full of seeds got stashed in a box. A box that sat in the basement for at least 5 years. I found the seeds in the fall of 2007 and I went ahead and planted them. I figured I could throw them in the trash or I could throw them in the flower bed. I had also scattered some purchased seeds. So far I have a bunch of purple, a few pale pinks and this one dark one from the seeds that we collected. Nancy if you happen to read this I hope it makes you smile :) . I think of you often and now I have a little piece of your garden blooming in mine (again).

The Mama and Papa Cardinals are back...I'm not sure if they are the same ones that built a nest and raised a baby in one of the big bushes next to our dining room window last year. But this year they are building their nest on the opposite side of the window. This photo is a bit blurry, I zoomed in with my little pocket camera. I was out taking photos of my flowers and she was tut tutting at me when I was near the iris bed that is next to her new home.

Presenting The Platypus by Megan
Megan's 2nd grade class did animal research projects and Megan chose the Platypus. She finished up her diorama (with a little help from mom and Paige) last night and she took it to class this morning. We cut a slit in the back of the box and attached a cardboard handle to the back of the Platypus so he "swims" along inside the box. There is a real mussel shell and real stones in the bottom of the box and some paper grass and a worm that Megan added incase the Platypus gets hungry. We lined the box with water printed scrapbook paper and the ceiling of the box has star print paper since the Platypus is nocturnal.

Monday morning mugshots

My post for Sunday 5-17-09
Paige's 11th bithday party...L to R ....Olivia, Cara, Aditi, Paige, Lauren, Sydney and Megan down front.
We survived the sleepover! I am being so sarcastic...these girls are all soooo very sweet and polite we enjoy having them over and I would have them over all the time if someone else would feed them! We made them chocolate chip muffins, pancakes, bacon and cantaloupe for breakfast. After breakfast they played "Horse-Opoly" then they went outside and played hide and seek and one by one they went home with their parents. I think we will have another sleepover this summer...outside in the tent.
My post for Saturday 5-16-09
Starting with the birthday girl Paige (in the blue jacket) going to the right Olivia, Megan, Aditi, Sydney, Lauren and Cara.

The skies were minacing on Saturday with big dark clouds and gusty winds. About 15 minutes before her guest started arriving it was raining sideways. That is why you don't see a tent pitched in the yard. Not to worry...they did sleep in our 6 person tent....up in the bonus room. Now referred to as the "Tent Room" (the entire center of the room is a tent). It worked out perfect they were happy to sleep in the tent no matter where it was pitched, they could even see the T.V. through the door opening and they watched "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" and talked and giggled until midnight.
In this photo they are eating the pizza's they made out on the patio with the lights and fountain on and a fire in the fire pit.

My post for Friday 5-15-09

I was a little busy getting ready for Paige's sleepover-tent party for Saturday night so I am posting a picture of Paige in the cute outfit she wore to school on her birthday (5-13-09)

Paige had riding lessons last night...on her 11th birthday. She rode C.C. in the barn (it was raining pretty hard out) they did more obstacle course work. She said they were trotting and he even did a tiny jump over a beam that was on the floor. She said it was fun! They must have worked hard because she had to wash the sweat off his back after she took his tack off.

Happy Birthday Cupcake!

Yep, she requested cupcakes for her birthday cake with sprinkels of course. There was also peanut butter cup ice cream to go with them.

Yesterday morning we planted our salsa garden. Mike dug up the sod then I helped him turn the soil and Paige plucked out the big stones. We also found some worms for our bait box. Rowdy and Rebel supervised...it's what they do best.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

We had a fun/busy Mother's day. We did exactly what I wanted. After we ate the waffles that Mike made us we went out back and planted our salsa garden. Then after lunch we went fishing. Here is Megan with the biggest fish of the day...it is a little over seven and a half inches. She caught it with her new fishing pole. She gave it a few practice cast then she flung it out there and her bobber went down in less than a minute. Great way to start a fun afternoon of fishing. It's funny Megan caught the first fish of the day and the last fish too. Must be that new fishing pole her daddy bought her.

If you want your legs to look extra long...try this trick. Sit in a chair that is tiny and very low to the ground. It works for Paige :)

My flowers are at the in between phase when the tulips are about done for the season and the buds are still forming on the roses, clematis, and dianthus. But the phlox still looks good...let's here it for phlox the underappreciated burst of color in Spring.

It was foggy this morning. So foggy that the schools had a two hour delay. That meant I got an extra hour of sleep. When I took the dogs out I found this work of art suspended between our mail box and the post it rest on. Give it a click and get up close to Mother Natures finest web master.

Paige tried something new tonight, she rode in an English saddle and did very well. They were riding inside the barn because of the rain. She said it was fun because Miss. Ginette had set up an obstacle course for them. Paige was the only one to get C.C. to walk over the black tarp. Lindsay had been riding him in the earlier class and he would not do it for her. Miss.Ginette was very proud of Paige and so am I!

The BIG OAK at Orange Park

Monday, May 04, 2009

I noticed something strange in my garden today. Last Monday I took a photo of these tulips.

When I planted them last fall I could have sworn they were pink, but they came up yellow with pinkish purplish edges. Oh well no big deal they are still pretty.
Then today I go out and (play "Twilight Zone" music here) the same tulips have turned pink with yellow accents. Oh well no big deal they are still pretty.....STRANGE...but pretty!

I took the girls to get their pictures taken in their dance costumes today. Here they are right before we walked out the door. They each had individual shots in both their costumes and then they had one together in their ballet costumes.

The kids had the day off school on Friday (teacher's work day) and it was raining off and on. Cameron had spent the night Thursday night so we went to a movie on Friday afternoon.
Can you guess what we saw?It was in 3-D and it was a great movie...Oh and the main charcter was a 10 foot girl that saved San Francisco from Aliens...yep that's right a GIRL Super Hero....well it's about time!

Megan is all ready for the Derby!

Last night was the "Spring Art Show" at the kids school. It is always so much fun. Not only do you get to see all of the fabulous art on display but the 4th and 5th grader have tables set up in the hallways so you can make mini pieces of artwork to take home. In the cafeteria they have the hat making station. It is always a big hit. Megan made this hat with some help from her dad. By the time they did theirs all of the fun stuff (pom poms, pipe cleaners etc.) to decorate them were gone. Megan's best friend Cameron went with us and then spent the night (there is no school today) so I am gonna let them fancy their hats up today with some stuff from their craft box.

Here is the fancied up version...it has feathers, pipe cleaners, sequins and pom poms on it.....now it's ready for the Derby!

Field Trip
After riding lessons on Wednesday Miss. Ginette let the girls ride around the front pasture. Paige and Caliope seemed to enjoy the change of scenery.
