We had some sunshine today and high temps of 45. Rebel was watching out the window for his girls to get off the school bus. I was too busy cleaning house to stop and play with him, poor pup.

Yesterday after ice skating we walked around the zoo for an hour before they closed. We enjoyed checking out the Humboldt penguins. It is their nesting season and they were doing their penguin mating call, it sounds like a mix between a donkey braying and someone honking an old horn. It was pretty funny.
Below Megan is modeling her penguin scarf in front of the penguin pictures.

My post for Saturday 1-26-08We took the girls ice skating at the zoo yesterday. Go check out my other blog for more pictures!

Three more weeks until Aunt Shann comes to visit...that's 21 days to go! This picture of Paige and Aunt Shann was taken in June of 2005 at Steve's Pizza in California.

That tooth of Megan's must have been pretty special. The Tooth Fairy left her a $1.25 and...a Polly Pocket pet set with a dog and a fox. I think the Tooth Fairy must leave a special gift the first time you lose a tooth, I remember Paige got some money and a My Little Pony for her first tooth.

I just love that toothless grin!

Megan lost her first tooth today. Our baby now has 1 less baby tooth in her mouth. Boy was she excited to tell me all about it when she came in from the school bus this afternoon. During story time she was wiggling her tooth back and forth and her friends at her table were encouraging her to pull it. She said "so I just pushed it forward with my tongue and YANKED it out!". She is proudly displaying her tiny tooth in her fingers below. Do you think that this is the most over documented loss of a tooth in North America? I guess I am making a big deal out of it because it's the last time we will get to travel down this road.
In the picture below Megan is holding the little plastic treasure chest the school nurse gave her to carry her tooth home in. That was pretty cool! Paige has never lost a tooth at school so we didn't know that the school nurse would give her such a clever little box to transport her tooth in.
Megan was so excited to use her "Tooth Fairy Pillow". She got the "T.F.P." last year. She was with me at this little shop and they had the cutest tooth fairy pillows and for some reason she just had to have one (Paige has one that Aunt Deb bought her years ago). So I got it for her and I am glad I did, because I have not seen any since then.
Don't forget to check back tomorrow to see what the Tooth Fairy left.

The girls had the day off school (teacher's work day to prepare report cards for next Tuesday). Aunt Deb had some meetings out of town so we went over to take Joe out. Joe was kind enough to pose for some pictures and do his puppy treat tricks too.
Is Joe talented or what, look at that puppy treat balanced on his nose. He won't snap it up until you say "get it", the girls love this dog, he is just too cool!

Paige's BFF Brittany spent the night last night (since there is no school today). These are Brittany's sock monkey slippers are they cute or what? They make me smile!
My post for Sunday January 20,2008When I took this picture at 8:30 a.m. it was 2 degrees out and we had just bundled the dogs up and let them out for their morning doggy business. Megan found herself a warm spot she is sitting on one of the air vents for the heater. Rebel has also mastered this trick. If I can't find him I know to look upstairs. There is a heater vent next to Mike's side of the bed and it is Rebel's favorite place to lay when it's cold out.

Here's Rebel sporting his construction orange doggy vest. It's a whopping 11 degrees out I don't know if this keeps him any warmer when I take him out to pee but it makes me feel better, since I am sporting a big brown down coat, scarf, gloves and hat. I also set his vest on top of the heater vent so it's nice and toasty for him. No this dog is NOT spoiled, nope not at all.

Yesterday at dance was the "big reveal". We found out the storyline for the Spring recital (show day is Sunday May 25th) and the girls characters and costumes. We won't get the actual costumes until April, but for now we have pictures. This is Megan's costume they are going to dance ballet in scene #4 and the song they are dancing to is "My Girl".
This is Paige's tap costume (sorry the picture is blurry) they are conductors dancing in scene #2 and their song is "Trains". I'm sure it will be fun and fast Miss. Rachel is great at putting together fun dances.
This is Paige's ballet costume she will also dance in scene #4. They will dance to a classical song from Disney's "Fantasia".
My post for Thursday 1-17-08Today the first graders had their dress rehearsal of their musical "Oceans of Fun" for the entire school. It was a little practice before all the parents and friends came at 7 p.m. Megan did a great job as an angel fish. We recycled her angel costume from her preschool Christmas show. Megan and her classmates were adorable, she knew all the words and did all the motions and dancing like a pro.
"Oceans of fun we're swimming in the sun, oceans of fun we're swimming til the day is done".

My post for Wednesday 1/16/08

A treat for my feet!
When I went out to check the mail on Monday I found a package on the doorstep. I was surprised to see that it was from Dad and Carole. Nothing like a belated extra Christmas package to turn and ordinary cold and snowy Monday into a special day. I love my new slippers, they are just as cozy as they are pretty. Lucky me!

Snowglobe custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more - ImageChef.com

I guess the weathermen got it right this time. It is snowing, the grass is just about covered and there is snow on the porch and walkway but it's not sticking to the driveway or street yet. They are big billowy puffs of snow. I bet the kids are excited at school, they have been wanting it to snow again.
Do you think this pup knows what a great life he leads? Do you think he knows that not all dogs are lucky enough to have the complete love and devotion of a 9 year old girl? Do you think he knows that most dogs do not get to sleep on a bed under a down comforter? I think he feels all the love and security of having a great home but I'm not sure if he knows how lucky he is because this is all he has ever known in his 16 months of life.

This photo below was taken in the dark using the night setting. That is why Paige is looking a little bug eyed. Goodnight you two, sweet puppy dreams!

"It's the best of both worlds" as Miley Cyrus a.k.a. Hannah Montana would sing.
It's Paige as Hannah and Megan as Lola, Hannah's best friend sidekick.
We have just had a quiet Sunday. I cleaned Megan's room, went through her toys, books and closest and got some stuff to donate. I also hung up her quilt that she made with Mimi and moved a few other pictures around in her room. I made a double batch of banana bread and did a few loads of laundry. The kids played on the Nintendos, played Polly Pockets and dressed up and danced and sang songs. Megan also did a math worksheet and they both drew and colored pictures. We are pretty lucky that they play together so well. Mike has been reinstalling Windows and other stuff on the kids computer most of the day.

My post for Saturday 1-12-2008

I don't have any current pictures to post so I am posting some shots from January 2003. Our first January in our new house (the house we live in now). Paige was four and a half and Megan was about 18 months old.
This is Paige's big girl twin bed and her walls are not painted bubblegum pink in these pictures.
Isn't it funny how when you look back at pictures of your kids you see the same expressions over and over. In the one below she reminds me of my dad a.k.a. Pop-pop.
Aunt Deb came over to watch the girls one day and when I returned they pulled this little snowman out of the freezer. Aunt Deb was cool, she went out and got a big bowl full of snow and let Paige build a snowman on a plate. He lived in our freezer for quite a while.
My Post for Friday 1-11-2008

A little blast from the past....these pictures were taken the last time my sister came to Ohio. It was October of 2001. Paige was just three and a half and Megan was all of three months old. We had a wonderful time and made so many good memories. What is so cool is that in just 5 weeks she will be here again and we will have even more fun this time. No diapers to change, no nursing a fussy baby that insisted on only nursing from one side the entire time we were up in the Amish area. We will watercolor new pictures and do some scrapping. We will play "Who Knew" and "Apples to Apples Jr." we will laugh until we cry and take a ton of photos.

I survived C.O.S.I. (the Center Of Science & Industry) with four 4th graders today on the 4th grade field trip. From l-r Shawn, Paige, Trevor and Lauren standing in front of a 1962 V W Bug. We had a great time and these kids are super. They had fun, learned new things and they are good listeners . I would do it all again, just wish we had more time to learn and play together.
My post for Tuesday January 8,2008

First burgers on the grill for 2008! I grilled these burgers last night before the game. It was in the 60's and seemed like a good night to grill out in January no less in the Midwest. The kids like theirs served on little Hawaiian rolls like at Cheeseburger In Paradise so that is why we have two regular size burger and four mini burgers. Hey whatever does the trick.
By the way I am sure you are all aware that the Buckeyes lost to L.S.U. 38-24. It was very quiet around Columbus today. I know this is not the most popular thing to say in this town..but ya know it's just a game played by young boys. Boys that are in college hopefully learning and preparing for their futures in the world. They did their best and they had a bad night and the world will keep on spinning.
