Happy Beggars Night from our house to yours! We had 145 trick or treaters from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mike handed out the candy in his "Swamp monster" suit while I took the girls out for an hour. Paige had a make up horseback riding class tonight. So we had to be to the stable by 7:15. Megan enjoyed handing out the candy after she got back. They will have another chance to go trick or treating on Saturday night. We are invited to a Halloween party and trick or treating at one of Megan's friends. It should be a cool party since her friends dad is a professional magician.
Mike and the boys will be busy in the haunted house starting tomorrow night. They have been setting it up all week. They are just a bunch of big kids in big scary-silly costumes!

So much for "carving happy" Megan went with a cannibal theme for her Jack-O-Lantern this year. Paige had to explain what a cannibal is because Megan didn't know what the word meant, she just knew it looked cool. We have this fun pumpkin carving book that she got the idea from.

Mike helped Megan carve her pumpkin while I took Paige to her riding lesson.
I will have to post a picture of Paige's pumpkin later...and mine too.

My post for Tuesday, 10-27-09

Here is a group shot of Megan's tap class after they shared their "Ghostbusters" dance with us. Miss. Erin was dressed as Richard Simmons. At first I was thinking she was Epstien from "Welcome Back Kotter". Okay I just totally aged myself.

Does this look like a $7.00 pumpkin?
I thought it was pretty special but not seven bucks special...so I snapped it's picture and called it a day!

Today was a good day to hunt for our "great pumpkins". We plan to carve them on Wednesday night after Paige's horseback riding lesson. That means I will need to bring them into the house on Tuesday so they can warm up and then I will have to "gut them". I may as well do it by myself since I end up doing 98% of the deseeding . They are all about the carving but not big on the goo. I will post the rest of the pictures on my main blog when I get some extra time. Right now I need to get dinner started. Mike is still working on the haunted house in the cul de sac. When we got home from the pumpkin patch I had the kids take Rebel for a walk and they brought their dad some candy that we bought him.

Is she a good witch or a bad witch?
You make the call!

This is as spooky as she gets in her glitzy witch costume. She was going to a costume party last nithgt. I sprayed her hair pink and thank goodness it does wash out just like the can said. The green hair is attached to the hat that I bought her at Meijers and the rest of the costume is from when Paige was a witch a few years back. I will post more witch pictures on my main blog.

Here's a self portrait and scar update. I just have a little ) smile on my arm the only thing that's missing are the eyes and maybe a tongue sticking out. If I ever decide to get a tattoo maybe I will have it turned into a smiley face.
I let my hair do it's curl thing today since it is rainy/blustery out. I have been blowing it straight but that is just too much work on a bad weather day like today. Gosh you can tell that I haven't been sleeping well (coughing all night, think I have what Paige is getting over) my eyes look so red.Okay I am going to stop now before I start in on my big cheeks or crooked pinky or the "chins".
I'm done now!

I love The Home Goods Store...it's like going to a garage sale but the stuff doesn't have that funky smell and you don't have to haggle to get a good deal. I got this for $2.99 then came home and put a little "sparkle" on it with some glitter glue. Sometimes you just need to add some sparkle!

(What Would Martha Do?)

Our chandelier is decked out for Halloween. I got these little wreaths at Anderson's last year after the holiday for thirty eight cents each. The kids love them!
10-20-09 Tow for Tuesday!

I took these pictures on Sunday afternoon. Since Paige was feeling up to it we took a quick drive to a local real estate business that was giving away free pumpkins, candy and juice boxes for the kids. She had not been out of the house for a week, I think the change of scenery did her some good. She kept commenting on how pretty the leaves were.

Paige's self portrait with her pup.

Paige went to the doctor today. They think she had the flu and now she has strep throat. This is the first time ever that she has had strep. I think that's pretty good that she has gone 11 years without getting it since it seems like it runs rampant in their schools.

OH NO

This is the "nice" version of what was said when the Buckeyes lost to Purdue 18-26 on Saturday.

Day 4 of Paige having a fever and bad cough. Her fever ranges from 99.5 to 102.5. She's sick of being sick. She's sad about missing school and horseback riding. She's drinking lots of water, snacking on toast and reading a book for a school project.

My post for 10-11-2009

It was "family day" (that means free admission and fun crafts) at The Columbus Museum of Art.
So we were able to enjoy "Chihuly Illuminated" it will be there until July 4, 2010. Also make sure to get over to the Franklin Park Conservatory for "Chihuly Reimagined" it runs until 3/28/2010.
For more Chihuly pictures please see my main blog.

Here is another picture from Friday night. While we were waiting for our table at C.P.K. the girls were looking at a calendar display in the mall. Paige found this one and what do you know there's her best friend Buddy. Of course her Buddy is a lot more loved than this one.

My post for Friday, 10-09-2009

I took Paige, Lauren, Megan and Cameron to see "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" in 3-D then to California Pizza Kitchen for pizza and ice cream. The movies were really fun, I don't remember seeing them in the theater before just on dvd. I like looking at the background for details like the titles of the books on the bookshelfs and the names of the classic toys and games. There was a 10 minute intermission between the shows so I had the kids pose with their 3-D glasses on.

There's nothing like starting your day off playing with your best friend.
(Life is Good)

Today the kids had a scheduled "late start day". That means that school starts 2 hours later. I let them sleep in until 8 a.m. Actually Megan woke up a few minutes before 8 all on her own, but Paige was still conked out. I made them chocolate chip muffins to have with their yogurt for breakfast. Megan's best friend Cameron came over at 9:15. Cameron's mom, Gayle works at the high school so she has to be to work at 9:30. So Cameron stayed here and Gayle took Jordan (Cameron's big sis is in the same grade as Paige) and Paige to school so they wouldn't have to ride the bus.

Yes they are as good as you remember but I think they may be stickier!
My post for Monday, Oct. 5, 2009

How do you get a kid to eat a nice crunchy apple after school? Let her cover them in caramel wrappers and poke a stick in them! Actually she will eat apples plain but this is so much more fun.

Megan had to write a paragraph about taking a walk in Autumn and she had to use her 5 senses to describe it. So I took Megan, Paige, Lauren (our neighbor) and Rebel for a 2 mile nature walk this afternoon. Rebel was very well behaved when we would meet other pooches along the way. When we got back in the car he laid across Paige's lap until we got home. Megan wrote a very nice paragraph and she even taped a feather to the page that she found on her walk. If you want to see the rest of the pictures please go to my main blog. :)
My post for Saturday 10-03-09

I didn't take any pictures today...so I am posting one I took while Megan's Jazz class was sharing their monthly dance on Thursday.

Did you know you can buy a little bit of beauty/happiness for less than 4 bucks? I got them at Trader Joe's because I don't get my nails done once a week, or go to Starbucks (don't like coffee) but I do enjoy a lovely fresh bouquet every now and then. Plus I'm worth it!
