Today is hat day at school for Red Ribbon week. So I sent my little witch and cowgirl off on the school bus after taking their picture and bundling them up...it is only 35 degrees at our school bus stop at 8:30 a.m. but the sun is shining so it should get up in the 60's today.

My post for Monday 10-29-07

This is the Jack O'lantern that I carved tonight, does it look like my favorite pup, Rowdy? I know Rowdy's ears are just a bit bigger. Did you notice that Rowdy is wearing his Jack O'lantern collar, he's such a festive pup.

My post for Sunday 10/28/07Here are Paige and Megan's Jack O'Lanterns that they carved at Deb and Bud's pumpkin carving party yesterday. Paige carved a dragon and a froggy, you can see she has inherited her Aunt Shann's pumpkin carving gene. Megan carved a cyclops, everyone was saying it looks like Mike Wysoski from "Moster's Inc."

Beware or the little purple haired/green faced witch Paige will cast a spell on you!Below you will see the witch's little black cat, Megan.
Here are Paige and Megan all dressed up for "Boo at the Zoo". I took them last night since the weather was so mild it was still 61 degrees when we got home at 9:30 and no rain so we lucked out. There was also a full moon with creepy whispy clouds in the sky...very spooky!
My post for Friday 10/26/07These are pictures from dance class on Thursday. It was dress up week for Halloween. Megan was a ballet princess and her class did their monthly dance to the theme of the Adam's Family. It was so cute....da da dunt click click da da dunt click click The Adam's Family!
Here is Paige posing with Ms. Rachel her tap teacher. Ms. Rachel was dressed as an 80's girl and we all agreed she looked perfect like she just stepped out of Flash Dance. It was like she was Olivia Newton John/Jennifer Biels. All us 40 somethings got a good laugh out of it.
This is my post for Thursday 10/25/07I took these pictures after dinner on Wednesday. I was drying dishes and looked out the kitchen window and saw this glow in the sky. So I grabbed the camera and ran out the front door. To the west the sun was making the sky glow and there were big misty clouds in the sky. You could feel the mist heavy in the air like fog almost. To the east the sky was a beautiful shade of sky blue with pink cotton candy clouds. There was a double rainbow over our house. The pictures of the rainbow did not come out that well because of the fading light. But I thought these were good and they have not been touched by any kind of photo editing ...just straight from the little Kodak Easy/Share C330. This is as good as it gets...the Midwest sky in the fall.

Our front door all decorated for the season.I made this fall wreath years ago, but this year I was afraid to hang Mr. Bones outside fearing that he may loose a hand or foot, so he is hanging in the center of the wreath and he is protected from the elements from our storm door.

this is my post for Tuesday 10-23-07
Meet Mr. Spooky
Paige and I made Mr. Spooky from a hanging basket of dyeing Boston Fern, a white kitchen trash bag, a black Sharpie marker and a few strips of clear packaging tape.We drew the eyes and mouth on with the marker . Then we cut a hole in the top of the trash bag then we stuffed the hanging basket..dead fern and all inside (that part was sort of comical). Paige kept saying your killing the plant, but then I told her it's already dead! We had to tape the corners of the bag down so the ghost does not look like he has little ears. So there you have it...a homemade/recycled Halloween decoration.

Rowdy a.k.a. Bubble ButtYa know how they say that if you wash your car it will rain. Well the same goes for your dogs...if you wash your dogs it will rain. I just figured I would get them washed while it was still warm out. It didn't start raining until 6 p.m. up until then it was warm (78) and sunny. Starting tomorrow we are only to have highs in the low to mid 60's.
I love my dogs and more so after they have been bathed...they are so soft and they smell good until they get out in the rain. But nothing a little "Cain & Able" can't fix. That is the all natural between bath spritz that we spray on the dogs before we brush them. It has a nice peppermint/tea tree smell to it and that beats wet dog by a mile.

Rebel a.k.a. Bubble Head
My post for Sunday 10/21/07Last Sunday while we were at Inniswoods Metro Park Megan found this sign by the mums and she was thrilled to have a flower named for her. If anyone has ever had the chance to hug my youngest then you know that the name "Warm Megan" is perfect!
My post for Saturday 10-20-07This photo is from January 2007!

Megan went to a birthday party for one of her friends at the Chiller ice rink on Saturday. I had to work so Mike took her...but not the camera. He says she did great...better then most of the boys. Guess my ice skating treks to the zoo last year paid off. She had a great time and skated well, even without socks. I put them out for her but somehow she took them off before leaving for the party. Oh well that just shows how determined she is....skating with rental skates and no socks....I know that is just gross but I wasn't there to protest.
My post for Friday 10-19-2007Paige's best friend Brittney turned 10 this week (on Oct.16th). Brittney's mom, Lorena used to work at Anderson's with me and when Brittney was 14 months old I started watching her a few days a week. So Paige and Brittney have been best friends since their diaper days. Brittney is 7 months older than Paige, as a matter of fact I found out I was pregnant with Paige 3 days before Brittney was born.
Paige went over to Brittney's to spend the night they are celebrating her b.day this weekend. They are going to the movies on Friday night then off to the zoo on Saturday. I am so glad that they have become best friends, they are both such sweet girls.
This photo is from August of 2007.
My post for Thursday 10-18-2007This is Megan's "Music Monster Moe". She made him for her monthly presentation for school. They had to create a creature and tell about it for sharing. Moe likes to eat macaroni, marshmallows and m&m's and he drinks milk. He is from Mars and he likes to go to the movies and march to music for fun. Megan made Moe from an old happy meal toy (recycled) he has a purple bath scrubbie for hair and he has wings made from pipe cleaners covered in feathers. She glued google eyes on him and made a music note button from fun foam to put on his belly when you press it it makes music. I think he looks marvelous!

We even decorated the dog for Halloween!
My Post for Tuesday 10-16-07

Here are some of our Halloween decorations that our on the mantle.

I need to put some fall flowers and leaves in the pumpkin bag. Paige got that from Auntie Shann when she was a toddler.

We got spooked last night. What is so funny is that our porch light was on, our front door was wide open with just the glass storm door closed. Paige was sitting at the kitchen table (you can see the front door from there). Megan was in the downstairs bath (the window looks out onto the front porch) and Mike was in the garage with the door up and the lights on. The only thing Paige saw was an arm and a hand. She said it was an adults arm. So whoever spooked us was very daring! The kids were thrilled. Paige said "isn't it strange that on the day we put our Halloween decorations out we got spooked".Oh that is strange very very strange!GOOD EVENING!

The phantom ghost has come to town to leave you some goodies I see you have found. If you do not wish a curse to fall. Continue this greeting heed to call.

First, post this phantom, where it can be seen. And leave it there until Halloween. This will scare other phantoms, who may come. Be sure to participate. Don't be a bum!

Second, Make two treats, two phantoms and two notes like this. Deliver them to two neighbors who may have been missed. Don't let them see you. Be sneaky no doubt...and make sure they put their phantom ghost out!

Next, you only have two days to act. So be quick. Leave it at doors where Phantom hasn't hit. Deliver at dark when there is no light. Ring the doorbell. Run, and stay out of sight!

Last but not least, come join in the season. Don't worry, be happy, you need no reason. Be cool, have fun, and remember don't be seen. Share in the spirit of Halloween.
My post for Sunday 10/14/07

After coming home from Paige's dance practice (for Nutty Nutcracker) we got the Halloween decorations out. I gave the kids their Halloween books (I store them with the Halloween decorations that way they seem like new books each year). When I came up from the basement this is the scene that was at our kitchen table..........
A witch reading "The Night Before Halloween".....and a fairy reading "Trick or Treat It's Halloween". What a sight it almost gave me a fright....just joking my girls LOVE to read!

See any resemblance?.....Paige is too funny!
My post for Saturday 10/13/07These are the picture frames that I decorated for Linda's grandkids. She is going down to visit them in South Carolina tomorrow. Madeline became a big sister to Calem on October 5th. Linda asked me to make her a "Big Sister" frame and told me the colors in her room are pink and green. I kinda went to town with the glitter and bling. Calem's room is in blues and greens with wild animal prints on the wall. He has the same initials as his daddy that is why I put his initials on his frame. I hope their mommy likes them. I had fun doing them, and Linda was thrilled so that is all that matters to me.

Paige + Rebel = True Love Always

Thursday, October 11, 2007

Rebel says "Talk to the paw!" I am not getting out of this bean bag.
My post for Wed.10/10/07 BIG BUGS!After school on Wed. Deb and I took the girls and Rebel to see the BIG BUGS at Inniswood Metro Gardens (one of our Metro Parks). The BIG BUGS were created by artist David Rogers. We felt lucky to see them for free. The park ranger that we spoke with said that this is the first time they have been displayed with out charging a fee. He said they were in Colorado and they charged $16.00 a person to see them so we are lucky that our parks bring us interesting things to enjoy free of charge. There were some other amazing bugs but my batteries for my camera were dead. I will try and get some of Deb's photos. Above Paige, Rebel and Megan are dwarfed by a giant Praying Mantis. Below is a topiary of a bumble bee.

Above is a dusty grasshopper and below a spider and it's web. The web was made of wood also.
Below the ants go marching three by three harah! harah! (Yes there were three big ants) and they were looking for picnics!

Rebel has such a good dog life. How is it that dogs can sleep the day away and have no guilt. This is where he spent yesterday morning while Mike was painting the bedroom and bathroom. At least he has the sense enough to stay out of trouble.

We are making progress....The furniture is pretty much in place and the bed is almost ready for the mattress and box springs to be delivered this Thursday. We need to scoot the dresser closer to the wall (after the paint dries completely) . We also need to put the rails in the bottom of the bed. So far so good!
My post for Sunday 10-07-2007The new color is called sea green and it is exactly what we had in mind...Cayman Island blue this is the color of the Caribbean Sea. I love how it makes the white trim and doors stand out.
My post for Saturday 10-06-07
Friday night after we dropped Paige off at a birthday party Mike, Megan and I went to the mattress store to find a mattress for our new King size sleigh bed. We had looked a week before and like this one a lot and when we went back they had it on sale so we went ahead and got it and they will deliver this Thursday. So from the mattress store we headed over to Anderson's to look at paint. We got this great shade of brown called summer suede. Mike got that up on the wall Saturday afternoon. We really love it. This picture does not do it justice. We put the tropical blue up that we picked but decided it was a shade too light. So we had to go get it retinted.

My post for Thursday 10-04-07

Our dining room chandelier decked out for Autumn...now if Autumn would only get here. It was 90 degrees today and we are to have above normal temps. for another week. I want to get the rest of the fall decorations out but it just doesn't feel like fall yet.
This is my post for Wed. 10-03-07

Today I am sharing Megan's art filled room. Enjoy!Mimi and Pop-pop got this beautiful piece of artwork for Megan on her first birthday, it hangs over her bed.
This little Kitty cat mirror was a gift from Mimi and Pop-pop and it is hand signed by the artist.
This picture is one of my favorites in Megan's room. Her Great Aunt Marilynn got it for her for Christmas 2001. This is what the poem says.
Precious child may you be blessed in knowing the love which surrounds you. May you be safe in the sense of place which you have in your home. May you be well in your body and fortified in the growing of your spirit. May all your strengths and the wishes of your loved ones guide you in all your days. May your sleep be protected and sweet. May your day dawn with promise. - Mary Anne Radmacher September 11,2001.

Megan's closet door has her Disney Pin collection a #4 from her b.day gift from Aunt Deb and her sunflower vase also from Aunt Deb.
Megan's Puppy painting, some fairy pictures (little note cards that I framed) and a watercolor by Megan at age 2.
