When I took the dogs out this morning I brought along the camera to record what is blooming in our yard on the last day of September 2007. It is Autumn on the calendar but we are still having warm sunny days in the mid to upper 70's, an Indian Summer. Above- my Canna still has a few blooms. I have let some of the seed pods set maybe I will try growing them from seed next year.
The Sedium is bright pink it will mellow and turn a light pink as the days get shorter.
My Clematis vine must be confused it decided to bloom one more time before winter hits and it dies back until Spring. What a nice surprise!

Mike and I are in the process of giving our bedroom a complete makeover. While we were down in Georgia this summer we got some beautiful Haverty's furniture at a warehouse sale. It started with a king size sleigh bed and two nightstands, then Barb and Jim found us the dresser a few weeks ago. They brought up the bed and dresser last weekend. The nightstands will make it up on the next trip. We still need to purchase a new mattress since the bed we have now is a soft sided waterbed queen size mattress (no headboard...just a bed). So our inspiration for our colors are coming from these framed prints and postcards that we got while we were in Grand Cayman Island for our honeymoon (11 years ago). We chose a light blue/turquoise quilted bed spread and a taupe colored duvet cover with a mushroom colored swirl pattern. They are from Field Crest at Target. I figure in the winter we will have the duvet on the bed and we can put the quilted bed spread on top for added warmth but have it across the foot of the bed during the day and then in summer do the reverse. I wanted to get something that did not have an overpowering pattern that we may get tired of. I will post more pictures when the room comes together. That may take a few weeks...I want to paint before we get the bed up...don't want to have to move a king size sleigh bed to paint. These pictures are the inspiration of our makeover.
Here is the bedding we have so far. I just love the color and texture of the small basket weave throw pillow. I also love the blue/turquoise quilt it is so cozy and such a calming color. Can you see the paint chips I have tucked into it. I want to paint the wall behind the bed a brown or taupe color and then the rest of the walls a pale blue/turquoies. The color I am leaning towards at the moment is called "tropical breeze"...now if that is not perfect than I don't know what is?

Our new dresser...it's a big one. The bed is leaning up against the wall covered in quilted blankets so no pictures of that today.

Happy20th Birthday to my Sweet Niece Chelsea!Happy Birthday Kiddo, ya know you are not a teen anymore....how did that happen so fast? That picture of you holding baby Jackson the other day brought back memories of me and you. I was just a little 21 year old when you came into the world. I was so thrilled to have a niece to buy girlie things for. You have turned into a smart, beautiful, and sweet young lady, I am so proud of you. Have a happy birthday and I will try and call later toady. Love and hugs from Ohio!

These photos are from June of 2005

My silly girls Megan and Paige. I made them stop for a photo before they headed off to the bus stop. It rained last night, we had some cool lighting and it has been raining very lightly off and on today. The grass, trees and plants sure needed it. Maybe this will cool things down too, I think I've had it with the 90 degree days for the year. Just remind me of that come Feb. when it is 5 degrees out. Ha ha we are never happy with the weather here in the Midwest.
My post for Tuesday 9-25-07
More fall decorations and a self portrait to boot!
My post for Monday 9-24-07The first day of fall was this past Saturday. I got some of our fall decorations out, although it was 90 degrees on Monday. I know it will get here soon and then we will be missing the warm weather again. This is my hall table all dressed for Autumn.
My post for Sunday 9/23/07On Sunday I took the girls to "Family Day" at the Wexner Center For the Arts. They have the "Strange /Funny" exhibit by William Wegman. He is the artist that is famous for his Weimaraner photos and short movies. His dogs have even been on "Sesame Street". You know you have made it when you get invited to "Sesame Street". We had a great time looking at all of the art and making our own works of art. This is one of the mini staircases that are in the museum the kids loved them. They were like secret passage ways.

Barb and Jim came up from Georgia on Thursday and delivered some of the furniture that we got from the warehouse place that they go to down there. Mike and Jim got these two dressers for Megan's room when we were there in June. The tall one is missing the top drawer but Mike is going to make a new drawer if Jim can't find one for it. In the mean time I am going to get a basket or maybe two baskets to place in there for now. Not bad furniture for under a hundred bucks (for both).
My post for Friday 9/21/2007
This is one of my very favorite pictures of Paige and Megan. I took it on Megan's first day of preschool in 2004. Paige is 6 and in first grade in this photo (same age Megan is now) Megan is 3 years old.
My post for Thursday 9-20-07Megan age 4 (September 2005) first day of preschool and she is sporting a necklace made of fruit loops (made at school of course). This was also the year of growing Megan's bangs out, oh what fun that was!

Paige age 7 (September 2005) the toothless wonder!
My post for Wednesday 9/19/2007I didn't take any pictures until this past weekend so I am posting some photos from September of 2006....a blast from the past!
ENJOY! Above Megan (age 5) and Joe boxer. Below Paige (age 8) and Buddy at the park.

This will be my post for Tuesday 9-18-07

Yesterday (Mon. 9-17-07) the girls had the day off school for "fair day"..that way the kids in 4-H can go to the Delaware county fair. We however did not go to the fair because of the toe in the photo above. This toe belongs to the left foot of Megan. Poor child inherited her daddy's awful toenails and deep nail beds. This little big toe has an ingrown toenail and was bleeding after school on Thursday so I called Friday to make and appt. for Monday. She was a very brave girl at the doctors. I held/hugged her while the doctor poked 3 holes in her toe...it bled like crazy but looked better afterwards. We are soaking the toe twice a day and she is taking an antibiotic twice a day.

We did have fun after the doctors. We went to visit Aunt Deb and Joe Boxer, played on the playground and went to lunch with Aunt Deb. So it was not a day without fun.

He says he doesn't love this dang puppy. What do you think...does he or doesn't he???
My post for Sunday 9/16/07

Our backyard has a "water feature" now. Ya know on all those H.G. T.V. shows they say "you should have a water feature" well our water feature came from Anderson's. We went there to get a Japanease maple and came home with a fountain. Paige and Megan were so excited! It really does look and sound nice. All the neighbors have come by and given us the thumbs up too.

The plants are "false sprite cypress" and "monkey grass". The cypress is so colorful a green and yellow mix and will get about 12 inches high by 12 inches wide. The monkey grass has tiny purple flowers and they multiply like crazy. They also have varigated leaves.

This is my post for Saturday 9/15/07

GOT DIRT?

We do...7 yards delivered Friday afternoon. We are putting in some flower beds by our stone patio and leveling off some low spots in the grass.

Today is our puppy's 1st birthday! Happy Birthday Rebel!
He was more thrilled with his new toys and treats than he was with the birthday hat and photo shoot.
These are Rebel's birthday treats. He was a nice pup and shared with Rowdy. Rowdy loves the puppy buckeyes. Rebel loves the tennis balls. The bright colored ones have squeakers in them and they say "Happy Birthday" on them. Rebel loves catching tennis balls when they bounce.

Rebel licked almost all of the icing off of his birthday puppy treat before biting into it. I broke off a piece for Rowdy too.
This is my post for Thursday September 13, 2007Megan has to do a presentation in front of her first grade class on Friday. The theme is "All About Me". I printed the pictures off that she wanted and helped her stick them onto her paper and she did all of the writing and decorating. She had me write the sentences out and then she copied them down on her poster. It was a lot of writing for a first grader. She came home with a big yellow star from her teacher...it says "We enjoyed learning all about you. Great job!"
This is my post for Wed. 9-12-07If all these little seeds that Paige is collecting grow we are gonna have a bazillion of these little orange speckled lily's.

I just love that face...those big eyes, pouty lips and those freckles across her cheeks and nose.

Gee thanks Aunt Deb!
Megan asked if she could have her lolly pop lips that she got from Aunt Deb for desert tonight instead of my brown sugar cinnamon coffee cake. I told her she could have them on one condition....I get to post a picture on my blog. As you can see she was very shy about the whole thing :)

This is my post for Sunday 9-09-2007Last night about 15 minutes before I had to go pick Megan up at the birthday party the skies opened up and we had a huge thunderstorm. Normally I would not complain (people in Ohio love to complain about the weather it is like a state pastime) but it could have waited until after 7 p.m. (party pick up time). We just got a little drenched and that was with the rain coats! Prior and during the rainstorm I was out helping Mike clean out the garage.
Later that night just before bedtime when the girls were upstairs reading Mike called us back down to the garage to meet the visitors.
Mr. Toady stopped by...he usually hangs out by the front porch and feast on spiders and rolly polly bugs. We don't know how the snapping turtle made it from the pond to our driveway but he did and he was not happy about it either. The pond is across the street and beyond the backyards so he must have been confused by all the rain. He sure could go for a little 4 inch turtle...he would put it in turtle overdrive and he could move at a pretty fast clip...for a turtle and all. The kids got a kick out of the visitors after photos and all Mike returned them to the wild....of our front yard.

My post for Saturday 9-08-2007Megan all dressed up and ready to go to her friend Hailey's birthday party. The theme was "High School Musical" that is a Disney movie that runs on the Disney Channel. It is about this high school jock that finds out that he likes to sing and dance and about the other kids accepting him for what he likes. Megan got her friend one of the dolls from the show and I guess it was a big hit with the birthday girl. Megan came home all happy and with a treat bag full of candy and some colorful gel pens.
