Introducing Apollo the Iguana
Last Friday we went to Justice to get Megan's friend a birthday gift. We had a 40% off coupon so Paige and Megan were willing to part with their own money and they each bought themselves "Webkinz" iguana's. I think they are adorable. Megan named her's Apollo after Uncle Dave's infamous 4 foot long disappearing Iguana. I think Paige is debating between Izzy and Iggy.

Happy 22nd Birthday to my sweet niece Chelsea

, sending you love & hugs from Ohio

If you are Squeamish about stitches do not scroll down!

Well I made it to 43 before I ever gave myself a boo boo that needed stitches, guess I can cross that one off my list of things to do now! I did this on Sunday when I was putting a double paned window in a dumpster. I think it was part dumb luck and part bad "karma'. I should have taken it to the recycling bin. Then I wouldn't have had to waste over an hour at the "Urgent Care" waiting to get a 10 minute stitch job and a tetanus shot. I have to go back this Sunday to have them taken out...I hope it's not going to take another hour of my time...this time I will take a book to read while I wait.

M is for monkey and also for Megan.

Here is Megan climbing the rock wall at the Indian Caverns. A local church had a community picnic their and our neighbors invited us. This was one of the free things for the kids to do...and Megan did it very well.

Megan went to Maddie's 8th birthday today. Maddie has been using a wheelchair since May because of a hip injury. They had her birthday at their church in the gym. They had a bunch of kid sized wheel chairs and the kids played wheel chair games. They also made crafts and painted their nails and put on make up. Megan had a blast and her shoes were voted the "coolest" of the party. Ya know what's funny about that? Megan wanted those shoes because Maddie has them.

The kids were off school on Monday (It was "fair day" so the 4-H kids can show their animals at the county fair). It was also raining all day so that put the damper on us taking Jake and Evan to the zoo. Paige had the camera with her while Megan and Jake were playing and this was one of the better pictures that she took.

All of a sudden it seems like our little Megan is growing up so fast. She's all legs and arms. I cleaned out her closet & drawers last week and we had to get rid of some skorts, not because she couldn't get them on, but because they were way too short. She's not getting any wider, heck she can still wear a size 6 and 6x but they are a wee bit short. That is not the worse problem to have. She's lucky to have long slender legs.

She also seems to be growing up in other ways too. When she goes in the car she grabs her little MP3 player or her Nintendo DS. So she can listen to Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, she can sing all of their songs (even without the music). She also loves playing Mario Kart on her DS, it's her passion. Her and Paige have maded up nicknames for all of the characters. She's so funny when she's racing she talks to the screen like they can hear her. Paige thinks it's annoying but I think it's humorous.

But no matter how long her legs grow, or what kind of music she likes she will always be my baby!

Here are a couple of silly shots from the stable yesterday.

Cece was making some crazy horse faces and he was flapping his lips and just before I snapped this picture he licked Paige's shoulder and she cracked up laughing.
Megan was hanging out with Smudge and it looks like he is reading her t-shirt.

She's back in the saddle again...fall riding lessons started today. They had perfect riding weather, sunny with a nice cool breeze. She looks so cute in her jeans and "Cowgirl Wear" shirt from Aunt Shann.

6th grade smiles :)

I stopped by the middle school to drop off some items for the art class. The art teachers had put out a list of items they would like us to save (newspaper, plastic containers w/lids, old calendars, old magazines). So while I was dropping off the bag the 6th graders were just coming out of the lunch room. Paige and Sydney stopped for a quick picture in the hall.

Rebel's 3rd birthday!

Paige made Rebel a special birthday treat for his breakfast. She put a smiley face made with puppy treats on top of his kibble.
On Sunday I took the girls up to Pet People so they could pick out Rebel's b.day gifts. They got him a blue sting ray and a fleece dog bone. They decided to give him his toys Sunday night so he wouldn't have to wait until after school on Monday to get his toys.
It's funny how the dogs are just like kids when it comes to getting new toys. They get so excited and then those are the only toys they will play with for a week.

My post for Sunday, 9-13-09

Mike and David took the canoe to the ponds to fish all day. This is the big Bluegill that Mike caught, it was about 9 inches long. Then his brother caught a big 18 inch carp, that David always has to catch the biggest fish. But he threw it back so technically Mike brought home the biggest catch of the day.

Found this little tree frog clinging to one of the post on our front porch. He didn't seem to mind having his photo taken but when the kids gave his back a little tickle he did his best to puff up and look big.(That is Megan's hand)

Evan loves his "Bumbo" and so do I!

In praise of the "Bumbo" seat...wish they had these when my kids were little ones. This light weight molded rubbery-plastic chair is so perfect for letting the little guy sit up and feel like a big boy. Who ever invented this thing is a genius and probably very rich too.

My post for Tuesday, 9-8-09

When I went to the bank I saw this car pull up...at first I thought it was a police car then on closer inspection I saw that it was a Charger all fixed up and modified...

I thought my sister would get a kick out of this. They even had the inside done up like a police car. It had a divider, and a stand for a laptop. The guy that was driving it said his company helped modify it and let me take pictures inside and out. I told him "you know this is going on my Blog?'. He thought that was pretty cool and told me to snap away.

My post for Sunday, September 6th, 2009

You know that every good camping trip has a story...well here is ours. On Saturday afternoon I got off of work 2 hours early...I was thrilled...thinking we would get packed and on the road for our first family camping trip a few hours earlier than planned. We had decided it would be best to take both the Explorer and the mini van since we had camping gear for 4 people and two dogs plus the fishing gear, life vest , paddles and canoe. Well we got on the road by 5 (about an hour later than I had hoped, but that's the way it always goes). Then about half way to our destination Mike pulled into a rest stop to check the tie down straps on the canoe. Well guess what? Our 1998 Explorer would not restart, at first we were hoping it was the battery, since Mike rides his motorcycle to work and the Explorer sits for a few days at a time. Well no such luck...our fuel pump died. So while Mike was making towing arrangements I was moving all the gear (tent, sleeping bags, fishing gear etc.) along with Megan and Rowdy into the mini van. Then we managed to secure the canoe to the roof rack of the mine van and by 9 p.m. we were on our way to the AEP Campgrounds, with a quick stop at Wendy's for a LATE dinner at 10:15 p.m. We finally found a campsite around 11:45 and by midnight we had our tent up and everyone in bed.
The rest of the weekend went a whole lot better...and when we returned home on Monday we packed the car a little better too.

Oh and I caught the biggest fish on Sunday!

This is my post for Saturday, 9-5-09
I did not take any pictures today...I was too busy getting to work on time this a.m. and then coming home and packing up our camping gear. So here is a cute picture that I took of Lauren and Paige on Thursday after school.

Monthly Mugshots!
Wearing their Buckeye colors!

Paige's school colors are red, white and blue and the school mascot is an eagle. Today is "spirit" day at her middle school, that means the 6th graders wear red (easy since it's the Buckeyes first game tomorrow), the 7th graders wear blue and the 8th grader's wear white (because they go to Washington D.C. to the White House in the Spring). Which ever classs shows the most spirit gets points. I'm not sure what they earn with the points...maybe bragging rights?

Megan put this outfit together last night. She's wearing Buckeye colors but not their logo. She said this shirt reminds her of something Selena Gomez (the girl on Disney's "Wizard's of Waverly Place) might wear.

My post for Thursday, 9/03/09
Tonight was 3rd grade curriculum night at Megan's school. So after dance classes I ran her home so she could get her shower and do her reading and hang out with Mike and Paige. Then I ran up to the school.
She told me that I had to look for the picture of her dream house...
who would have guessed that Megan's dream house would be a
CANDY Mansion?
The girl likes her candy...gummies, dum-dum lollies, jolly ranchers, laffy taffy, nerds, skittles, Mike & Ikes if it is fruity, sweet and sticky then she likes it.
Maybe that's why she's so sweet!

Megan also created these two cute little bugs and named them Miley and Taylor after her favorite singers. I'm sure that Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift would be SO thrilled.

My post for Wednesday, 9/02/09

Paige's new desk for her old "new room".

When we were talking about moving her furniture around in her room she told me "I would really love to have my own desk". So last week I went out scouting around then on Sunday we saw this cute desk set in the Office Depot add. We went to look at it after dinner on Monday. Mike was afraid that it would be too small. I had measured her wall so I knew it would be a perfect fit, plus we didn't want it too big or it would make it feel cramped as you entered her room. The desk sits between her door to her room (on the left) and her closet (on the right). I put it together on Tuesday afternoon and she was so excited to get to do her homework at her own desk in her old "new room".

Paige took this picture of Rebel yesterday sitting on the little stool/file cabinet that came with the set. The cushioned top is removable and you can hang files folders in the base. For now Paige has some extra paper and a box of markers in it. The cushion that came with it is a bright red orange color but I slipped a pillow case over it for now. I will get some fabric and make s cover for it, but this is a quick fix.
