Megan dressed in her Annie tap dance costume on recital day.
And after the show with the pink tulips her friend gave her. I told Megan I'm sorry I forgot to get you flowers and she said "that's o.k. you are going to get me Graeters (ice cream)" . Ya gotta love a kid who knows that good ice cream is better than flowers after the show!

It was very warm here yesterday in the upper 80's and then late last night we had a big thunderstorm and lots of rain. That will make our grass happy...we needed the rain.

My Mother's Day!Gifts from Megan, Paige and Mike.
But the best gift of all was getting to spend a fun and relaxing day with my family. Mike and the girls made waffles and bacon for breakfast. Then we got cleaned up and packed up for an afternoon of fishing at Sharon Woods then a fun dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise. A perfect day with my perfect family!

Paige caught her first fish today, on her 9th birthday!
It was a pretty little Bluegill. We put him in a bucket of water then she released him back into Schrock Lake, it is in Sharon Woods park. We had a nice afternoon of fishing and the girls even learned how to cast their lines all by themselves. We are very proud of them both! I think they may have gotten the fishing gene from their Great Grandma, she was tickled when I told her that tonight on the phone.

Last night we celebrated Paige's 9th birthday 2 days early. She had 3 of her friends over plus we had Cameron over for Megan to hang out with. We all had a fun time eating pizza, playing "Whunu", bowling, and cake and ice cream. Brittany spent the night so they are still playing today.Paige making a wish on her 9th birthday.
Paige and Mom, thank goodness she's not too big to give her mom a snuggle in public!
The Party Girls...left to right Brittany, Olivia, Paige, Reilly, Cameron and Megan
The Butterfly cake. I borrowed the cake pan from a friend in Paige's dance class. Mike and I decorated it...it was a team effort! Paige said "It is the best cake you've ever made...I love it!"
Thank goodness!

Tonight was one of my favorite nights at my kids school. It was the annual art show. It is a relaxed night to walk through the halls of the school and admire all of the talented artist. Each and every child has at least one or two pieces on display. They also have art stations where the kids can make mini masterpieces to take home. The 4th and 5th graders get to man the stations, and it is a big deal. We had a fun night, the kids made some great art...the pictures will be on my main blog so go check it out.The artists that did these "Laurel Birch" type pictures are 5th graders. WOW!
The pictures/sculptures above were made by 4th graders. Impressive!
This art above and below was produced by 1st graders at my kids school...Amazing!

When you don't have anything to blog...just take a photo of your dog! Here is Rebel and his blankie. Maybe we should call him Linus...he has this little old cotton receiving blanket (used to be Megan's) and he chews the corner of it...it looks nasty even after I wash it. Well at least he is not chewing on anything important like my shoes or furniture!

Our little half pints as Pa Ingles would call Laura on "Little House On The Prairie".
The third graders have Prairie day in early June each year. Grandma Barb was very kind to make this adorable dress for Paige. She also made them each a sun bonnet and an apron. Paige said "I picked blue because Laura has brown hair and freckles like me and she wears a blue dress". She has been reading the "Little House" books in reading class this year, she also read some last year on her own.
For more photos please see my main blog. Thanks :)

This is the cute new outfit that Aunt Shann, Uncle Steve, Cody , Chelsea, Rosea and Tucker got for Paige's 9th birthday (it will be this Sunday the 13th). She also got some other cool stuff...a Webkinz Yorkie, a cute Tinkerbell Scrapbook for our trip to Disney, purple flip flops, and a cute decorated paint can filled with lots of candy and a strawberry chapstick and a chicky stamp....lots of fun stuff! Thanks Aunt Shannon you are the best! Love and Hugs, Paige xoxoxoxo
Just in case you didn't know my kids have the coolest Auntie ever!!!! (and these smiles prove it)
Webkinz are the hot must have item in elementary school They are stuffed animals that come with a special code that enables you to adopt them online at Webkinz.com. Once they are adopted you can sign in and play with your virtual pet. The other cool thing is you can play games for Webkinz cash and buy your pets food and clothes and other cool things. Some of the games are fun silly stuff and some are educational, like math and language. We were having such a difficult time finding any of the Webkinz in our area that we called Aunt Shann. She found these cute little pups for Paige and Megan and now they are thrilled to be in the Webkinz club with the rest of their friends. They can even exchange their log on names so that their pets can play with their friends pets. It is safe...the kids can only pick from preprinted messages like "You are cool" or "Let's be friends" so their is no way to exchange personal information.

Got Turkey Vultures?
The other day Mike discovered a big dead rabbit in our neighbor's yard....because Rebel ran over in their yard. Luckily Mike got a hold of Rebel before Rebel got too close to the body. When the neighbor got home he looked out back and saw he had some feathered friends dining on the carcass so he got a shovel and pitched it into the freshly plowed soy bean field. I asked Mike to go get a picture. It is hard to tell from this picture but these birds are large...they look big even from a distance and they cast a pretty big shadow when they are gliding overhead.

This is the pretty little vanilla cake with butter cream frosting that I bought at Whole Foods today. It is not for us to enjoy but it is going to a good cause. We donated it to the school for the cake walk at the school carnival tomorrow. I hope that if some little kid picks it out that they will share it with their mom. I think this cake is lovely....and I hope it taste half as good as it looks!
Paige's party invitations. I whipped these up last night a mixture of stamps and flower punches. Paige is just having a small get together for her 9th b.day....we are trying to downsize the birthday bashes. We will have pizza here at the house, go bowling then back here for cake, ice cream and some games. She will get to have her best friend, Brittany spend the night too...the rest of them will go home.

The other night we had our bedroom window open and Rebel could hear some dogs barking in the distance so he kept growling and woofing. We kept telling him to be quiet so pretty soon he hopped off our bed and went in and slept with Paige. I went in and took this picture after evacuating her stuffed animals and her pretty fishy pillow that Aunt Lita made off the bed. He stayed with her all night...and I had a great nights sleep without having a pup laying on my feet.
