Whipped cream out of a spray can it's not just for pumpkin pie!Believe it or not Mike had to coax Megan to do this. He asked me to volunteer, then she tried a little and then a lot. I think she likes it!
Paige said she didn't want any that she was full. I think Paige prefers her whipped cream on a slice of peanut butter pie from Der Dutchman.

Oh , DEER our little dear Megan has turned into a reindeer!Monday while the girls were at school I started getting the Christmas decorations out. I normally would have waited until at least Dec. 1st. But I have to work all day Sat. and Paige has dress rehearsal on Sunday so I figured I better get it out while I had the time to do it. The girls were thrilled to see all their Christmas books and the reindeer antlers of course!
My post for Wednesday 11-28-07Barb and Jim drove up from GA yesterday and they brought us some early Christmas gifts...our nightstands and the mirror that goes with our dresser. I am so excited! This is the first time in our married lives that Mike and I have had real matching nightstands. At our old house he had a file cabinet and I had two storage boxes with a quilt draped over it. Then at this house I had a nice 3 drawer pine cabinet that Mike stained, it was real nice but he had a t.v. tray. This furniture is soooooo much better than anything we have ever had.

Can you guess who these curls belong too?Could it be Goldilocks? Shirley Temple?
No, it's our dear little Megan.
She was in the bathroom watching as I was curling Paige's pony tails for dance yesterday. I could tell she was having a bad case of curl envy, so I asked her if she would like her pony tail curled too. She was quick to say yes. So here she is with a little magic from the curling iron and a bunch of help from the Aqua Net (old lady hairspray) . She was pleased as punch. After dropping Paige at dance Megan went to Anderson's with Mike and I to do some Christmas shopping. She kept asking me "are my curls still there". They were there all day until we had to put her in the bath to wash all the hairspray out.

This is my post for Sunday 11-25-07Paige had dress rehearsal today from 2 to 5 at the dance studio. We just had to do hair and costume this week. Next week it will be hair, MAKE UP and costume. They always have a little coloring-decorating contest at the dance studio. This year they are decorating gingerbread boys or girls. This is Paige's gingerbread girl, does her outfit look familiar? I think she turned out adorable and Paige is pleased too.

This is my post for Friday 11-23-07Our dear neighbor Linda from across the street has company for Thanksgiving. Her son and his family drove up from S. Carolina. She brought over Madeline and her new baby brother, Calem over to visit. Calem was born Oct. 5th, so he is just a little whipper snapper. He was fussing so I picked him up and put him on my shoulder and patted his back. That did the trick, he let out a big belch and spit up on my shoulder. It has been a while since I have had a new baby spit up on me. Megan was famous for spitting up, at least 3 times a day. Boy I did a lot of laundry when she was tiny, and I don't miss any of that! It was fun to see the new baby and Linda is so proud and happy.

I just pulled this yummy Chocolate Pecan Tart out of the oven and drizzled a tablespoon of Wild Turkey over it. Now if that is not the perfect Thanksgiving treat then I don't know what is!
This recipe is so simple it is from Every Day Food magazine and I have copied it below. Enjoy!
Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Turkey Day!
Ingredients
Serves 8.
- 2 large eggs
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 4 teaspoons unsalted butter, melted, plus 2 teaspoons, chilled and cut into small pieces
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chunks
- 1 1/3 cups pecan halves
- 1 tablespoon bourbon (optional)
- 1 store-bought refrigerated pie crust (not in a pie plate)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees with rack in center. On a lightly floured surface, roll out pie dough to a 12-inch round, about an inch thick. Wrap dough around rolling pin, and unwrap over a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom. Press dough into bottom and up sides of pan; trim edge of dough.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, light corn syrup, 4 teaspoons melted unsalted butter, and the vanilla. Scatter chocolate evenly over tart shell. Pour filling over chocolate. Arrange pecans on top, as desired. Dot with 2 teaspoons chilled butter.
- Place tart pan on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake until filling is set, 45 to 60 minutes. If pecans are browning too quickly, tent pan with foil. Remove from oven; while still hot, drizzle with bourbon, if desired. Let tart cool completely before serving.

This is Megan's Happy Freak Out Face!Tuesday morning I am downstairs getting the dogs fresh water and food. I hear Megan coming down the stairs and she seems to be hobbling into the kitchen. I ask her "what's wrong is your foot asleep" and she says "No it's just hard to walk when you have your toes crossed.". Then she told me that she was going to keep her toes and fingers crossed all day in hopes that she would get her name pulled out of the hat and be able to take "Gingerbread Fred" home for Thanksgiving break. I bet you want to know who the heck Gingerbread Fred is? Well he is a little Gingerbread guy that comes home with each of the kids in Megan's class. He gets to spend the night and the kids write a story about his adventures with them.
All I can say is "good thing she doesn't know how to cross her eyes!"
By the way the toe-finger crossing did not help, Gingerbread Fred went home with Skylar.
Megan bites her fingernails, can you tell. I did too when I was a kid...oh and I hate that she does it. Funny how that works. Oh and she has her daddy's toes, poor child.

Busted! So I get the girls off to school and come in the house. Mike is off work this week and is in the kitchen. I say oh look at our pup he is being such a good dog. He was laying on the carpet just minding his manners, not begging. That is a big deal for Rebel.
Then I head upstairs to get some things done, clean up the guest room, change sheets on Paige's bed. put laundry away etc. Mike calls up after an hour or so and says "You need to come down here I have something to show you". Well this is what he wanted to show me. Our good little pup must have sprouted devil horns and he was sitting in Paige's beanbag chair with a whole roll of T.P. and he was making some confetti. Having himself a little toilet paper party. So I said to Mike don't yell at him yet I need to grab the camera. I took this quick shot then he knew he was busted. Just for the record he looked really sad and sorry. I guess that is all you can ask from a 14 month old pup is to at least feel sad and sorry for acting on his t.p. desires. Oh and at least it was just t.p. and not a pair of my shoes!

Paige got her Santa's Sleigh Keeper costume at dance class today. I have to admit it is one of the cutest costumes. I think the girls danced extra nice today, they always dance better with bigger smiles when they get their costumes.
By the way the back of her hat says "Naughty" how cute is that? The other girls hats say "Naughty", "I've Been Good" and "Bah Humbug". I don't know how but Paige ended up being the "Nice" elf and I think it fits her perfectly!

I don't think that I ever took any pictures of our bathroom after Mike painted it. All of the walls are painted summer suede except for the wall behind the mirrors and one wall in the water closet are blue too. It looks great and it flows with our bedroom perfectly. There are fabric samples hanging up above the window that Barb sent us. She asked if we would like her to do window treatments for us. Sounds great to me because I have not seen anything in the stores that I would like. She did our window treatments in our family room and they are beautiful.
My post for Tuesday 11-13-07I got these Mums kinda late in the season (late October) so it was slim pickings. I settled for some that were white with the lightest hint of lavender on them. Well look at that they just keep getting more colorful as the days get cooler. They keep getting darker and darker. I guess I should get them in the ground if I want to give them a chance to come back next year. They are sitting in the pot they came in and they are inside a decorative planter next to our front door.

My post for Monday 11-12-07See I got my flu shot...shiny bandage and all. The nurse was funny, she gave me the shot amid all my freckles and then she had a hard time putting the band aid on because she couldn't see the needle hole among all the freckles. But she was good when I took the band aid off there was the tiniest little spot of blood so she must have put it on the site of the shot. The shot did not even hurt, but about a half hour later if felt like someone socked me good. Then last night it was pretty sore and then this morning it was a little worse. But once I got to work and was scanning and loading grocery bags into peoples carts it felt better. It must have needed a work out.

Paige wearing her new headband. It is covered with colorful fabric that has long ties and she had me put her hair in a low ponytail and tie the scarf ends around it. Her friend at school had one and she wanted to get one too. I guess we are getting into fashion at the ripe old age of 9.
This picture was taken this morning before heading off to school. When she came home she took off her shoes and climbed under a blanket on the the sofa and watched some cartoons. When I emptied out her lunch box and found her thermos still full and her sandwich untouched. I asked "do you feel okay?". She said she was tired all day. I went over and felt her forehead and it was warm so we went up to take her temp and it was 100.7. So she put on her p.j.'s and snuggled on her bed with her pup then came down for some water and toast. I told her to take it easy and rest tomorrow since she has dance practice on Sunday. I am not surprised that she is sick since Mike has not been feeling well all week too.

Wednesday morning after breakfast and ready for school Paige gets one last snuggle from her puppy before he wants to jump down and play. While Megan snuggles up on her purple beanbag to watch Curious George cartoons.
Last night we got their baths and nightly reading done early so we could play some games. We played 3 games of "Sequence Dice". Paige won twice and I won one round. Then we played a never ending game of UNO. We each got to yell UNO at least once but we always kept the person from laying down their last card. Finally I told them to add up their cards at 9:15 so we could get them in bed. I had the least so I was declared the winner. Just playing games together was fun so I guess we all won!
