Yesterday was dance costume day!
Megan's class is doing a ballet dance and their song is "My Girl".
Paige's ballet class is dancing to a classical piece from the Disney movie "Fantasia".
Paige's tap class is doing a fun and fast piece to a song called "Trains". Her hat is a little big and needs to be taken in, I also need to press her costume. They come folded-wadded up in a plastic bag, so this is straight out of the box.

h
Our red tulips are done and the white ones will be blooming soon. The tulips in the front bed are pink and orange so that will be a nice burst of color in a week or so. Then the Asiatic Lilies will be up in June they are a deep burgundy.

It's that time of year again. Time to get the mulch down, it is such a big chore but after it's done it makes the yard look so much better. The hard part is not actually spreading the mulch it is the prepping. Mike trimmed along the beds with the edger last week, and I went around and pulled the grass and weeds that were popping up and creeping in. I also raked the old mulch up away from the edges so that the new mulch would not end up in the grass.
I mulched the little bed that is at the far side of the driveway and extends back along the side of the garage on Wednesday. The photo below is a before shot.

We saved a turtle today.
The girls had the day off of school today so we were headed off on some errands and a movie. I was driving down the road thinking about the stuff we needed to do (drop books at library, deposit check at bank etc.) and I notice something on the road but it is too late to slam the brakes on. I looked in the rear view mirror and the rock I thought I saw has a head poking up. So I turned the car around and parked on the side of the road. Luckily it is a road that is not very busy. But of course a big white Suburban was coming so I waved the driver down so she would stop. She was nice and stopped so I could rescue the little turtle out of the road. I picked him up and jumped over a muddy ditch and placed in the the sun in someones yard. Then I thought I should grab the camera and take a picture. First thing Paige said "Is that going to be your picture of the day?"
Bingo...here it is. After I saved his/her life the darn turtle refused to poke it's head back out.

My post for Wednesday 4-16-08
Today was a perfect day to play outside after school. I carried out the big green bucket of outside play toys. It has everything, jump ropes, bad mitten , plastic balls, bats and baseball gloves, a big colorful nylon parachute with beanbag s to match, frisby's , you name it we probably have it stuffed in that green bucket.
Paige was doing the "Skip it". Back in my day it was called a "Lemon Twist" because mine had a yellow lemon shaped ball on the end of the black ankle loop. This is the one her Aunt Shann got for her the last time we were out to CA. She was a little small for it back then but now she is a pro. Must be all those tap dancing classes.
Megan is our jump rope pro. She could not jump rope at the start of first grade this past fall. But this kid is determined and she practiced at recess with her friend Hannah. Now Megan is a pro and Hannah does not want to challenge her to jump rope contest anymore. Megan can go forward, backward, one foot, crossovers you name it this kid can jump it.

My Post for Saturday April 12,2008
WE had a fire in our fireplace tonight. Hopefully the last one until next fall. The temps dropped into the 40's and it was wet and windy outside. Mike and the girls were watching "Star Wars" and me and the dogs were laying on the bean bags in front of the fire. I had some cook books from the library that I was browsing through, a rather relaxing evening.

My post for Monday , Apri 7, 2008
I have been meaning to share this, our new spring-summer wreath from "Home Goods". I figured I couldn't buy all the stuff to make it for under twenty bucks so this was a steal at $15.oo! My other wreath that I used to hang up for spring and summer I made over 12 years ago when I was working at a craft store. The poor thing is falling apart, the sun coming through our storm door melts the hot glue. I like the way the blues look against the dark brown door.

If someone would have stopped by our house yesterday they would have never suspected that I had 4 girls here. Because they all get along so well, they are good friends and they all have really good manners.
Megan and Cameron have been best buddies since they were 2. Cameron came over after school for a much anticipated play date. They played dolls/vet up in Megan's room. After they cleaned that up (by themselves and without being asked) they moved onto the bonus room to play a combination of Polly Pockets, Barbie Dogs and Littlest Pet Shops. Then they cleaned ALL that up all by themselves (they know the rules!) and finally they played LEGOS. I would have Cameron over ANY time because she is such a good kid, she knows the rules (clean up your mess, be kind and stay out of the older sisters room unless invited in). I am so glad that my kids have such good friends, it makes life easier!
Paige also had a friend over, Sydney rode the bus home with Paige. They are in the same 4th grade class. Sydney was new to Paige's school this year, and I am glad that Paige has made friends with her. The start of 4th grade was difficult for Paige since about 1/3 of the kids she has known since kindergarten moved to a brand new school (to prevent over crowding in the schools). I told Paige the plus side is they will all meet back up in middle school.
Sydney is a real sweet/polite girl. She is the oldest of 4 she has a sister in 2nd grade, a brother in kindergarten and a brother in preschool.
Paige and Sydney did their homework together, then they hung out in Paige's room, they took Rebel for a walk, they baked banana bread, looked at scrapbooks and then made pizza's for dinner. After dinner they went outside and played catch. It was a perfect afternoon of fun and friends.

Rebel must have a love hate relationship with the big yellow bus that stops at the side of our house. It takes his girls away in the morning...but then miraculously it brings them back in the afternoon. I wonder if he thinks they are just out for a bus ride all day?
Here he is watching out the dining room window as the kids load up on the bus.
And this is the reason he misses them so much. They give him lots of puppy rubs and play fetch with him. Lucky pup!

APRIL FOOLS and good morning to all!
So the kids are eating their Cheerio's for breakfast and I tell them if they hurry up I will give them a special treat.
Then I pull out "ice cream sundae's " from the freezer for them. The trick is that the vanilla ice cream is really just vanilla yogurt. Paige took a big scoop of hers and I asked "well how is it" and she politely answers "it's good, then reluctantly she says it taste a little funny". Then I ask "does it taste more like yogurt than ice cream.....APRIL FOOLS".
Our neighbor boy Harry was over because his parents had to go to work early. He said "I thought it was cool that Paige and Megan were having ice cream after breakfast". He thought it was a clever trick.
Read on for more April Foolery....
Last night after I put the kids to bed I was downstairs on the computer. I could hear footsteps up in the hall and above my head in Paige's room. So I went up to see what was going on, since they had been in bed a good 15 mins. or so. The first thing I noticed was Megan's bedroom door was wide open. I usually close it after leaving her room so Rebel will not go in and get into trouble (chew on her toys). So I went in to turn off her big night light (like I do each night) and as I was pulling the covers up on her I saw yellow p.j.'s (Paige's p.j.'s) . I thought now that is strange why did they switch p.j.'s then Paige rolled over (she was laying on her stomach) and I said "what are you doing in your sisters bed?". She said we were trying to play an April Fools trick on you but you ruined it. She was pretty upset, and I started laughing of course. I said but you did trick me, I thought you and your sister had switched pajama's.
So I told her to stay there and in the morning I would ask her dad to go in and wake "Megan" up and then she could trick him.
So this morning after I took the dogs out I went to wake "Paige" up (who is really Megan") because I had gone in and turned off Paige's alarm clock, thinking that it might freak Megan out since she does not wake up to a blaring radio. So Megan got a laugh because she "tricked" me. Then I had Mike go in to wake "Megan" up and the real trick was on him when he found Paige in Megan's bed. So Paige got to do her trick, but it just happened to be on her dad instead of me.
