My post for Tuesday January 29,2008Megan came home with this wonderful piece of artwork that she created in art class. My kids are so fortunate, they not only do they go to a wonderful public school but it has fantastic "Specials" classes. "Specials" refers to art, computers, gym, library and music.
When they learn about art at their school they get to learn about an artist from the masters to contemporary artist. After learning about the artist they get to create a work of art based on that artist style and techniques.

I just love this self portrait of Megan, it makes my heart happy!

This piece is based on a local artist Aminah Robbinson. We have been lucky enough to see her works in person at The Columbus Museum of Art. She makes these incredible books and wall hangings out of textiles, paint and found objects like buttons and other trinkets.
